Hi Leigh,
The faculty should be able to return it to the student to make changes before they certify it. The Submission Details page has an option to Return to PI and the faculty member can click this. Once the student makes the changes, they can complete the submission, re-certify, and if everything is ok, the faculty can then certify it to submit to the IRB for review.

Subject: Review by Faculty Advisor for Certification
Once the person who is completing the submission, submits and certifies, if it needs to be certified by another person (Faculty Advisor), the submission is no longer available to the person who originally completed the submission in the event that changes need to be made. We have students who have to have their submission reviewed and certified by their Faculty Advisor. If the faculty advisor asks for changes, the student has to send me a separate email outside the system, and request that I send their submission back. Is this what others are finding as well, or am I missing something? Can the faculty advisor actually review the submission in the system prior to it coming to them for certification? That way they can address any issues and have everything clean before it actually gets to them (FA) for certification.
Thank you!
