Hi Simon,
This helps, thank you! I had the letter say to please review the IRB Findings and Comments within the submission itself. I just wasn't sure if the Letter went as an attachment to the email notification. We actually deferred the vote and noted all the Findings. This decision re-opened the submission with the PI.
Thanks again!

Hi @Leigh Schectman! I asked the experts on this and was told that when a submission goes to a full board review, the IRB members will have an option to provide a decision of Return to PI in order to reopen the submissions for the Research team to make changes. Once the submission is completed from the IRB side and gets reopened, the IRB application will follow with an email notification with the content of the letter letting the research team know of the findings and advising of the necessary changes.
Another coworker suggested that the letter template be set up to say something like, please review the comments from IRB indicated in the application and can include language such as a 30-60 day window to resubmit corrections (dependent upon institutional policies around PI responses to revisions of course).
I hope this is helpful!

I wanted to confirm that when the IRB makes a decision from a Full Board Meeting and the submission gets sent back to the PI, the PI will receive an email notification with the Letter as an attachment, correct?
Thank you!
