    The Opportunity

    We are seeking a collaborative team member to partner with faculty and staff at the University of Wisconsin – System Campuses to improve competitive research proposals for obtaining external funding.

    The WiSys Research Development Associate advises faculty and staff on proposal concepts and provides comprehensive editorial review. This position will partner and collaborate with faculty and staff at the University of Wisconsin – System Campuses, specifically UW-Eau ClaireUW-River FallsUW-Stout, and UW-Superior. This position works closely with the Research Development Manager and the WiSys team, a diverse team with expertise in academic technology transfer and technology commercialization.

     

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Develop and deliver in-person and virtual research development seminars, workshops, and guidance materials to train faculty in grant writing
    • Review and distribute funding announcements
    • Provide comprehensive editorial review on proposals
    • Facilitate bringing teams of faculty investigators together to pursue multidisciplinary funding opportunities
    • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with Grants and Research Office staff at UW campuses and work collaboratively with the WiSys team

    WiSys main office is located in Madison, Wisconsin and we are open to flexible work arrangements. This position requires periodic travel to the specified UW System campuses.

    Qualifications

    We are seeking candidates with the proven ability to communicate and build rapport with university faculty, staff, and students; knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of research development and of funding agencies; and strong presentation, training and facilitation skills to interact effectively with diverse audiences. Experience in proposal development at higher education institutions for a variety of federal and/or nonfederal agencies is preferred. A bachelor's degree is required, while an advanced degree or experience with instruction or training is preferred.
