  • 1.  Prime NOA to a Sub

Hi, all!  Do you all typically get the NOA from the prime institution when you are a sub?  Is it required that the prime must send the NOA to its subs?  -- alwf

I don't believe that it's required, but I do request a copy for our records and our prime sites are usually happy to comply. I also send a copy along with our agreements to our sub sites as a courtesy.

Thank you so much for your response.  My Finance Office is saying they believe the auditors told her that it was required.  Anyone know if there's something out there that says that?  This is from her memory and she doesn't point to anything specific that says it's definitely true.  Could this be a requirement perhaps by agency rather than across the board?

I believe that if you use the NIH's standard subaward forms (can be found on the FDP website) it does mention including/attaching a copy of the notice of award to the subaward paperwork. I don't find any specific verbiage in the NIH guidance that says you have to include the NoA, though.

    Thank you,

    Hi Audrey,

Yes, we usually do get the NoA from our primes-and if we don't, we ask for it.  It's typically a professional courtesy in the interest of full disclosure (and since the terms flow down, it's also expedient!).

    Cheers,
    -Lisa

Thanks, much!  So it's a courtesy but not a requirement from what I'm gathering.  OK...thanks! -- alwf
