    Position Summary

The CAS Grants Team seeks to add a Research Administrative Coordinator (RAC) at the RAC II or Senior RAC level to provide pre-award support to the CAS research community. RACs are responsible for a broad set of assignments related to the CAS Grants Team's research portfolio. The RAC II or Senior RAC will perform administrative and/or financial duties, and provide faculty, researchers, and staff with guidance on financial, administrative, and regulatory issues arising from the application for and the execution of sponsored awards and agreements.

The RAC II or Senior RAC will assist Principal Investigators (PIs), including faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate students, with the preparation, review and submission of proposals to a variety of federal and non-federal sponsors. RACs advise PIs on the administrative requirements of funding opportunity announcements (FOAs), including eligibility, funding limitations, unallowable costs, etc., as well as UO policies and procedures for grant proposal submission, and provide significant support with the preparation of proposal budgets and budget justifications. They also respond to sponsor requests for additional information, such as Just-In-Time (JIT) requests, and assist PIs with requests for pre-award spending accounts.

This position performs lead work and backs up other members of the CAS Grants team. Senior RACs also provide leadership for outstanding customer service and are responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of training materials, resources, workflows, and protocols for the CAS Grants team, CAS PIs, and others.

The successful candidate will have a strong customer service focus, be able to work independently and as part of a team to meet shared and individual goals, and have demonstrated the ability to be flexible, adaptable, and responsive. In addition, the successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds and will maintain the highest ethical standards.

This position requires the consistent exercise of professional sensitivity, confidentiality, and independent judgment. RACs will have or develop a comprehensive knowledge of University of Oregon grant administration policies and practices, as well as the ability to independently interpret, communicate, and apply the Oregon Administrative Rules, University policies and procedures, and the federal Uniform Guidance (CFR 200). This position will interact regularly with external constituents, administrative colleagues, faculty, students, and sponsors in the public and private sectors. This position will report directly to the Pre-Award Director and will play an essential role on the Grants team.
