Position Summary
The Research Administrative Coordinator 1 (RAC 1) will be responsible for a broad set of assignments related to the CAS Grants Team's research portfolio. The RAC 1 will perform administrative and/or financial duties, and provide faculty, researchers, and staff with guidance on financial, administrative, and regulatory issues arising from the application for and the execution of sponsored awards and agreements.
For pre-award support, the RAC 1 will assist Principal Investigators (PIs), including faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate students, with the preparation, review and submission of proposals to a variety of federal and non-federal sponsors. RAC 1s advise PIs on the administrative requirements of funding opportunity announcements (FOAs), including eligibility, funding limitations, unallowable costs, etc., as well as UO policies and procedures for grant proposal submission, and provide significant support with the preparation of proposal budgets and budget justifications. They also respond to sponsor requests for additional information, such as Just-In-Time (JIT) requests, and assist PIs with requests for pre-award spending accounts.
Post-award support duties include but are not limited to tracking progress report due dates, preparing personnel reports, and coordinating with faculty and administrative team colleagues for reporting purposes. The role assists with sub-award management, including the timely preparation and submission of sub-award documents by tracking sub-award project end dates, and works with PIs, administrative team colleagues, and Sponsored Projects Services to initiate requests to sponsors i.e. rebudgeting requests, key personnel effort reductions, etc. RAC 1's assist with formal correspondence, forms, reports and documents to support PIs and the CAS Grants team, and work with UO financial and HR systems (FIS and HRIS) to confirm data and provide information/reports regarding budget and salary. They may support special projects such as tracking related to sponsored projects, deploying independent judgment to track and manage priorities for internal and external constituents.
There is a significant emphasis on budgeting, financial and accounting activity, and/or financial and operational monitoring in this position. The successful candidate will have a strong customer service focus, be able to work independently and as part of a team to meet shared and individual goals, and demonstrate the ability to be flexible, adaptable, and responsive. In addition, the successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds and will maintain the highest ethical standards.
