    Clemson's Division of Research is currently working on a hybrid remote schedule; new employees  (under 1 year) who are eligible work two days on campus; longer eligible employees work one day on campus. In addition, on campus work is expected if circumstances dictate (meetings, etc.).

    JOB SUMMARY:

    Reporting to the SVP for Research, Scholarship and Creative Endeavors, this position is responsible for oversight and management of electronic research administration systems and processes that support all offices within the Division of Research including Research Development, Sponsored Programs, Institutional Review Board, Institutional Animal Review and Use Committee, Grants and Contracts Administration and Research Core. Other duties as assigned.

    JOB DUTIES:

    50% - Essential - System Management and Process Improvement: Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of electronic research administration systems, including but not limited to grants management, proposal submission, and compliance tracking systems. Identify opportunities to streamline research administration processes through automation and system enhancements. Ensure eRA system adherence to institutional, state, federal, and sponsor-specific regulations and policies related to research administration. Contribute to the strategic planning process for research administration, recommending improvements and innovations in eRA systems and processes. Lead and manage the IT systems of the Research Division units with the eRA team and provide strategic leadership for hardware and software systems.

    15% - Essential - Training and Support: Provide training and support to research division staff and principal investigators on the use of electronic systems and compliance requirements. Collaborate with internal stakeholders including research faculty, department heads, finance, and legal teams to facilitate smooth and compliant research operations.

    15% - Essential - Reporting and Analytics: Manage report generation and analytics related to research administration activities, funding trends, proposal success rates, and compliance metrics. Develop and manage dashboard systems for stakeholder audiences.

    10% - Essential - Administration and Management: Build and develop new eRA office. Perform standard supervisory tasks of hiring, performance review, mentoring, and skillset development for all eRA employees.

    10% - Essential - Vendor Management: Manage relationships with eRA system and IT system vendors and third-party service providers. Manage interfaces with CCIT and other Clemson vendor systems as necessary.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    Education - Bachelor's Degree
    Work Experience - 5+ years of experience in research administration, with a focus on eRA systems (e.g. InfoEd, Cayuse, Kuali); strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and trends; strong communication skills.

    PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

    Education - Master's Degree in computer science, data management, or related field

    Work Experience - In-depth knowledge of eRA systems such as InfoEd, Cayuse, Kuali or other similar systems. Strong understanding of regulatory requirements related to research funding.

    Develops Department Budgets - Responsible for developing one or more departmental budget(s). Estimated amount of budgetary responsibility in dollar amount must be added.

    COMPENSATION INFORMATION

    Expected Salary Range: ($101,258.00 - $170,000.00)
     

    Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

    ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

    Essential Level 2 employee

    Required to maintain/resume essential support functions, deliver direct care services, and/or provide recovery support before normal operations resume. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
