    DRI's Financial Services Office is looking for a person that performs grants and contracts accounting and post award accounting administration of grants and contracts under the direction of the Post Award Financial Manager. This position works with state, local government, and private sponsors.  This position provides support for post award accounting activities of the grants and contracts area of Financial Services Office, including day-to-day administrative and financial functions including receiving new awards, award set-up, maintenance, invoicing, and close-out.  The Accounting Assistant II/III will provide support and assistance to business managers, faculty, staff, and any special requests from sponsors, when required, regarding post award accounting activities.

     

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities for both Accounting Assistant II and III

    • Maintains assigned active awards;
    • Corresponds with the divisions and sponsors to ensure needs are being met;
    • Prepares reports as needed;
    • Maintains file for each active award and verifies accounts;
    • Enters budget modifications and no-cost extensions;
    • Verifies appropriate approvals for all modifications;
    • Reviews transactions as related to awards;
    • Runs monthly billing summaries;
    • Prepares invoices for sponsors per terms and conditions of each award;
    • Monitors outstanding invoices;
    • Reviews each award monthly;
    • Other accounting duties as assigned.

     

    Additional Responsibilities for Accounting Assistant III level

    • Reviews all award agreements noting the terms, conditions, and regulations;
    • Maintains document files for subawards;
    • Setup and manage cost share accounts and subawards;
    • Processes approved subaward payments.

               

    Accounting Assistant II Required Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or equivalent with two years of full-time total overall accounting experience;
    • Experience with financial accounting systems;
    • Minimum of 1-year job-related work experience;
    • Intermediate Excel experience;
    • Due to the current health and safety emergency declaration, anyone hired must receive a complete (and verified) COVID-19 vaccination series or an approved medical or religious waiver request as a term and condition of employment prior to any start date at any Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) institution.

     

     

    Accounting Assistant III Required Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or equivalent with four years of full-time total overall accounting experience in contracts and invoicing;
    • Experience with financial accounting systems;
    • Minimum of 3-year job-related work experience;
    • Intermediate Excel experience;
    • Due to the current health and safety emergency declaration, anyone hired must receive a complete (and verified) COVID-19 vaccination series or an approved medical or religious waiver request as a term and condition of employment prior to any start date at any Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) institution.

     

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities for both Accounting Assistant II and III (Required)

    • Individual initiative and ability to work with minimal direct supervision;
    • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills; ability to develop working relationships with divisions, faculty, and staff;
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously; excellent time management skills. Ability to handle time pressures and adhere to deadlines.

     

    Preferred Qualifications for both Accounting Assistant II and III (Optional)

    Greater consideration will be given to those who possess one or more of the following skills:

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in accounting or related business degree.
    • Workday software experience.

    Compensation Grade/Benefits

    This is a DRI Technologist Grade 31 position with a minimum starting base salary of $42,863 (Accounting Assistant II) or Technologist Grade 33 position with a minimum starting base salary of $46,396 (Accounting Assistant III); candidates will be hired at the level that is comparable to their experience, skills, and abilities.

    DRI offers a benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, and life insurance (Flexible spending and health savings account options available); PERS 15.5% retirement match, 10 hours of annual leave and 10 hours of sick leave accrued per month, 11 paid holidays, and educational benefits for employee and dependents. Additionally, there is no state income tax or social security deduction. This position is eligible for relocation assistance.
