    The ASU Knowledge Enterprise is seeking an advanced Research Administrator Sr. to join their Biodesign Research Opportunity Advancement and Development (ROAD) team at Arizona State University (ASU).

    As an RAA Sr., you will provide direct support to research investigators in the area of proposal preparation.  For many proposals, you will work with individual researchers to develop and process standard proposals. Additionally, you will also support complex and high-profile proposals, which may involve interdisciplinary teams of investigators, collaboration with proposal managers and project coordinators, stakeholders in ASU Leadership, multi-project proposals, and/or an increased number of subcontractor institutions.     Job Summary:

    Essential Duties

    Under general oversight from the Research Advancement Manager, the RAA Sr. works both independently and as a member of the ROAD team to:

    • Serve as an administrative resource to ASU investigators and ASU research advancement administrators;
    • Interpret and effectively communicate sponsor guidelines to ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable regulatory and financial requirements imposed on institutions of higher education;
    • Manage project proposals and applications for sponsored funding, organizing proposal plans or checklists and monitoring progress to keep development and required actions on track;
    • Develop administrative components of proposals for a wide variety of funding agencies, including federal sponsors, corporate entities, philanthropic funders, and local governmental agencies;
    • Develop project budgets, draft budget justifications, secure internal approvals, liaise with sub-recipients, check proposal documents for compliance, prepare sponsor application packages, and work closely with the Office for Research and Sponsored Projects Administration (ORSPA) for institutional review and submission;
    • When required by the sponsor as part of compliant proposal submission, prepare Microsoft Excel spreadsheets involving multiple worksheets and integrated budget summaries;
    • Assist with post submission action items requested by the sponsor such as revised budgets, completion of sponsor forms, etc.;
    • Utilize & Liaise with ASU resources and offices to resolve issues related to cost-sharing, international engagement, subcontracting, etc.;
    • Identifying specific areas and solutions for process improvement and drafting changes to methods, procedures, and work instructions;
    • Assist with protocol submissions to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC);
    • Prepare and coordinate submission of updated Other Support/Current & Pending Support documents as well as technical reports, (e.g., Research Performance Project Reports – RPPRs);
    • Develop and maintain working relationships with faculty, researchers, unit personnel, Sponsored Project Office representatives, and members of the ASU Research Advancement Community;
    • Other responsibilities as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in a related field. Five years of experience in a field appropriate to the area/unit of assignment OR Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill, and abilities have been achieved.

    Flexible work options

    • Alternative work schedules can include four, 10-hour workdays in a workweek; a nine-day, 80-hour schedule over two workweeks for exempt employees only; and staggered start and stop times.
    • Hybrid work is an arrangement where employees spend a minimum of 60% of their regular workweek at their primary ASU work location. Dean or vice president-level approval is required.
    • Remote work is an arrangement where the employee spends less than 60% of their regular workweek at a regularly assigned ASU work location. Executive vice president-level approval is required.
