    With direct supervision from the COMPASS Co-Director, and interacting with the Consortium for the Study of Chronic Pancreatitis, Diabetes, and Pancreatic Cancer (CPDPC), the National Cancer Institute (NCI), the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Disorders (NIDDK) and the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN), the Project Manager III will apply their extensive knowledge base in the field of pancreatic cancer and diabetes to manage the day-to-day operations for two distinct studies 1) the New Onset Hyperglycemia and Diabetes Study (NOD) and 2) the Early Detection Initiative for Pancreatic Cancer (EDI). This position will spend approximately 60% effort on NOD and 40% effort on EDI. The Project Manager III will supervise a program assistant who will perform collaborative administrative duties, appropriately delegated by the manager. The Project Manager will also work collaboratively with others within the COMPASS group. The manager will work directly with internal and external Investigators, staff, and stakeholders.

    Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with both the internal and external team members consisting of computer programmers, statisticians, scientists, study coordinators, and other stakeholders
    • Assume oversight of coordination center activities for two established studies to include planning, monitoring goals of the projects, and working in close collaborations with NOD and EDI studies.
    • Work closely with the COMPASS Fiscal Manager, COMPASS Director and Co-Director on project budgets, ensuring that all financial allocations and expenditures are in accordance with
      grant/contract guidelines and requirements.
    • Set project goals and timelines, ensuring that all research and administrative activities are on track through completed.
    • Develop, interpret, and administer project policies and procedures according to protocol(s), Institutional Review Board (IRB), grant or contract specifications and Fred Hutch specifications.
    • Serve as project liaison, representing the project(s) to other Fred Hutch departments, funding sources, affiliated individuals or institutions, and outside organizations.
    • Monitor and respond to staff and other stakeholders' queries. Track study data and compile reports.
    • Attend project meetings (in-person on and off site, webinars, and conference calls) and manage follow-up activities as needed.
    • Travel within the US with overnight stay to study sites, meetings, etc.
    • Maintain proper study records.
    • Produce special and recurring reports.
    • Perform other duties as required.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • BA/BS in related field required.
    • Minimum of four years post-master's or seven years post-bachelor's project/study management experience in a research or clinical setting.
    • Minimum two years' experience managing others.
    • Excellent written, analytical, and verbal communication skills. To include the ability to prepare presentations using PowerPoint or other presentation tools. Comfortable speaking/presenting to large groups of people.
    • Willing to travel post-pandemic

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Knowledge of pancreatic diseases and diabetes highly desirable.
      Knowledge of IRB study requirements.
    • Software project management experience, and/or experience working with software programmers.
