    The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Senior Research Administrator, Grants and Contracts, (REMOTE) [R0135387]

    ROLE of the POSITION

    The Senior Research Administrator for Grants and Contracts assists faculty members, principal investigators and department grant administrators with the administration of university awards for research, service projects, and other creative activities and represents the university as the liaison to the sponsor.

    Primary Job Duties:

    • Provides advice to faculty and staff regarding sponsored research administration issues, interpreting a broad range of sponsor policies, government regulations and terms and conditions in a timely manner
    • Regularly and consistently respond to award administration for all grants in portfolio, and assist peers as needed
    • Administer awards through eRA portals, ASSIST, Fastlane, Research.gov, Grants.gov, etc.
    • Review award for compliance, to include but not limited to, IRB, IACUC, export control, participant support, extra contractual compensation (ECC), short turn around timing, reporting requirements, special conditions (e.g., prior approvals), etc.
    • Communicates with extramural agencies on grant-related matters ton include, no cost extensions, PI change, changes in scope, and funding (increased & carry over), or to verify allowable/allocability, etc., as needed
    • Work closely with the Pre Award Research Administrator and Financial Research Accountant teams on various issues related to proposals and award management
    • Prepares subaward agreements and modifications
    • Work with other institutions regarding sub-contracting
    • Review and approve/reject buyout and Extra Contractual Compensation from faculty
    • Prepare award documents and budget(s) for entry into Workday
    • Ensure programmatic reporting deadlines are completed and uploaded into award/financial system
    • Prepare corrections, such as adding GR lines and other award information into award/financial system
    • Collaborates with other University groups such as Principal Investigators and study teams, IRB (Office of Research Integrity), Risk Management, sponsors and other relevant offices to ensure that sponsored research projects are managed in an efficient and effective manner consistent with UNLV policies and procedures, and applicable agency guidelines, laws and regulations
    • Provides Grants and Contracts leadership in absence of Associate Director
    • Provide train the trainer modules to be used by Grants and Contracts and other OSP staff as necessary using a combination of digital media, virtual, and in person.
    • Facilitate mandatory trainings for new faculty and administrative hires

    REQUIRED

    • Expert knowledge and experience necessary to manage a high volume of awards involving the most complex federal terms and conditions; international issues; multi-site collaborations; city, county, and state contracts; non-profit contracts; cooperative agreements; memoranda of understanding; master agreements; multi-party agreements; teaming agreements
    • Possess extensive knowledge of major funding sources University and sponsor policies and procedures post-award grants administration, analysis and understanding of terms and conditions
    • Advanced knowledge of federal procurement regulations, including the CFR & FAR, agency CFR/FAR implementations, and the Uniform Guidance 2 CFR 200 and audit regulations (Single Audit) that pertain to institutions of higher education
    • Expert skill and demonstrated experience to negotiate highly complex sponsored project agreements independently with and understanding of the consequences of acceptance or denial; identify key issues and propose alternative language that is acceptable to the parties; analyze and interpret all terms and conditions to protect the high priority interests of the University
    • Demonstrated in-depth experience and expertise in delivering high quality customer service to a diverse group of colleagues within the organization, in the campus research community, and in sponsor entities with a particular focus on: customer needs negotiating mutually beneficial workflow and communications to achieve a common goal, establishing service expectations, and delivering accurate and complete services
    • Previous Workday experience to include grants module
    • CRA Certification

    SKILLS

    • Exceptional interpersonal skills to deliver effective professional research administration expertise to all levels of faculty, staff, and non-University entities
    • Exceptional ability to mentor and train other research administrators as part of a team environment
    • Exceptional written and oral skills to compose and deliver clear and concise communications to explain advanced concepts and procedures to individuals at various knowledge levels
    • Expert skill to analyze existing policy and procedure to offer substantive recommendations for improved efficiencies in office-wide operations and improve overall service to the campus research community
    • Demonstrated customer service focus and an ability to communicate verbally and in writing clearly and effectively, presenting ideas, documenting activities, reading and interpreting written information, such as federal, state and internal guidelines and requirements
    • Extensive proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; and ability to use and execute advanced Excel functions to work with complex data
    • Strong computer, systems and technology proficiency, including experience with Workday
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills

    • Self-starter, diplomatic, pro-active, and ability to manage stress
    • Ability and capacity to work with a high degree of independence and within a deadline driven, multi-tasking operating environment

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    This position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Certified Research Administrator (CRA) and 7-9 years of experience. Musty have served as a research administrator at a central sponsored programs office. Research administration in review of awards, review of contracts, and administering a portfolio of awards. Workday experience.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    College department grant administrator is a plus. University setting with research administration Cayuse experience. 10 years of experience.

    SALARY RANGE

    Salary range is $74,000 – $84,000
