Job Summary
The Department of Environmental Health Sciences (EHS) in the School of Public Health is looking for an
experienced Research Administrator to join our administrative team. EHS is a vibrant and diverse academic
community of faculty, staff, research fellows and students. You will be responsible for pre-award and postaward research responsibilities for a subset of faculty within EHS.
This can be a remote/hybrid position, based in Ann Arbor, eligible for both remote and on-campus working.
This position offers a $1,500 signing bonus.
Responsibilities*
Preaward:
-Support faculty research proposal submissions to federal and non-federal sponsors.
-Prepare budgets and administrative documents for proposals, ensuring all sponsor and university
guidelines and deadlines are met.
-Route proposals for institiutional review and follow through when proposal changes are needed.
-Review applications for compliance with sponsor, university, and department policies.
Postaward:
-Independently reconcile accounts across sponsored research, cost share and general funds using
MReports, Business Objects and other tools to ensure appropriate use of funds.
-Prepare monthlyfinancial reports with revenue, encumbrance and projected balance.
-Set up new awards including sub-PG requests, subcontracts, consulting agreements and cost share
accounts.
-Compile financial information to process transactions such as budget reallocations, personnel change
requests (PAR), journal entries and vouchers.
-Create and process post-award change requests i.e., carryforward requests, no cost extensions.
-Perform required project closeout actions including review and resolution of UG (uniformed guidance)
and FSR (financial status) reports. Monitor personnel project effort following university and sponsor
policies.
-Help with other support documents and progress report projections.
-Interpret and ensure ethical adherence to University, federal and other sponsor policies.
Required Qualifications*
-Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
-5+ years of progressively responsible financial and research-related experience, both pre- and postaward.
-Knowledge of federal funding guidelines and sponsor systems such as grants.gov.
-Competent in developing reports along with experience in transactional processing of general financial
activities.
-Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, especially Word and Excel.
-Expert proficiency in using MPathways systems or similar budgeting and reporting platforms.
Intermediate level:
3-5 years of progressively responsible financial and research-related experience, both pre- and postaward.
Underfill Statement
This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected
candidate. The salary offered will commensurate with level of position. There are two levels possible -
Intermediate and Senior.
Intermediate- $56,030 - $69,213
Senior -$65,759 - $81,231
