Job Type: Full Time, Regular

Major Duties:
General Summary: Negotiates, reviews, and tracks contracts for research-related external funding, from the development through the approval stages, and assists with post-award contract review and revision as needed.
- Consults with sponsors, sub-awardees, principal investigators and internal constituents, including the Office of Legal Affairs to identify and negotiate contracts associated with external funding.
- Prepares, processes, and tracks contracts associated with external funding awards through stages of initial development to approval by all parties.
- Ensures contract compliance with university policies, the laws of the Federal government, State of Michigan, and sponsor guidelines.
- Develops and provides resources regarding contracts for faculty and staff, including professional development.
- Prepares correspondence to sponsors requesting contract modification.
- Identify, evaluate, and protect researchers' intellectual properties
- Assists university researchers and departmental staff with administrative support of research funding
- Disseminates related federal agency and sponsor information.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
- Three years' relevant experience.
- Experience in contract administration or research administration including working knowledge of current research administration issues.
- Working knowledge of federal grant and contract regulations.
- Budget management experience.
- Project management experience.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with staff, academic scholars, entrepreneurs and industry executives.
Desired Qualifications
- Certification or specialized training in contract negotiation and/or research administration.
- Excellent research and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
