    Examples of Work Performed

    • Serves as primary contact for the Institutional Review Board (IRB) or the Institutional Animal Care and Use (IACUC) and Institutional Biosafety (IBC) Committees.
    • Serves as back-up contact for other compliance committee(s).
    • Coordinates protocol processing/intake.
    • Screens IRB or IACUC/IBC protocol-related submissions, determines appropriate level of review, and conducts and/or coordinates necessary reviews.
    • Records and tracks protocols using electronic database and filing systems.
    • Conducts and/or coordinates continuing protocol reviews.
    • Coordinates compliance training for researchers, compliance committee members, and other necessary personnel.
    • Coordinates compliance committee(s) activities.
    • Advises, assists, and disseminates information to researchers and committee members regarding research compliance and research ethics.
    • Assists in coordinating responses and reports related to protocol noncompliance and adverse/unexpected events.
    • Stays abreast of federal and state laws pertaining to research compliance.
    • Assists with interpretation of regulations.
    • Assists in developing policies, procedure manuals, and online materials for department.
    • Regularly reviews office procedures and recommends changes as necessary to ensure compliance.
    • Assists with coordinating accreditation efforts.
    • May supervise undergraduate student assistants as assigned.
    • Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

    Essential Functions

    These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring Department.

    1. Coordinates institutional research compliance in a specific area, which may include human subjects, animal models, biosafety or other area.
    2. Coordinates and presents introductory compliance training.
    3. Coordinates compliance committee activities.

    Minimum Education/Experience

    Education:
    Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.

     

    AND


    Experience:
    One (1) year of experience related to the above described duties.

     

    Substitution Statement: Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
