Job Description
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Research Compliance and Regulatory Programs, the Compliance Coordinator supports the operational needs of the Office of Research Compliance, including correspondence, coordinating receipt of and establishing protocol for filing of proposals, scheduling meetings, and follow-up on requests from principal investigators and research administrators. The Compliance Coordinator provides professional support via customer service to students, faculty and departments interacting with the Office of Research Compliance and all Compliance Committees.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Process and manage Institutional Review Board (IRB) and/or Institutional Animal Care and use Committee (IACUC) protocol review workflow from submission to approval to ensure a smooth and efficient approval process. Process and manage renewals and amendments for active protocols.

Oversee maintenance of all physical and electronic files, related to reviews.

Maintain calendars with applicable expirations and deadlines required for each IRB/IACUC/RCR/COI program; prepare for meetings or inspections in collaboration with Senior Compliance coordinators.

Process and manage the annual COI campaign with all active researchers; support COI committee activities and document management plans for disclosures of conflict of interest.

Develop and recommend policies, implement a campus-wide program and is responsible for all research and some non-research activities impacted by the Export Control regulations across multiple units on campus.

Responsible for the operational management and oversight of the processes, systems, compliance and education needs as they pertain to export compliance.

Review and assess research and export control compliance policies, procedures and operations in an effort to implement ongoing improvements system-wide.

Develop, implement, and monitor Technology Control Plans (TCP) and related exemptions/exceptions; lead the annual review of active TCPs; create Montclair State University export control forms and checklists; act as a resource to University staff and students to assess and classify information under EAR and ITAR to determine the obligation to apply for a license, or determine the availability of a license exception, and document all such determinations for record-keeping purposes; develop and implement export controls training programs for faculty and staff.

Review research projects, licensing disclosures, Material Transfer Agreements, and other MSU efforts for export control issues; develop MSU guidelines, policies, and procedures related to export controls in collaboration with other offices; act as a liaison/consultant to Sponsored Programs; and provide subject-matter expertise during contract negotiations.

Consult with the Senior IRB Coordinator on a regular basis concerning progress on assignments and to resolve problems.

Serve as liaison to the research community and provide guidance and direction regarding IRB submissions and Board requirements.

May assign and supervise the work of part-time and/or student workers if required

Processes communication of IRB deliberations to investigators, sponsors, and funding sources.

Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:

Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree.

Minimum of three (3) years of experience in professional level administrative work in a research or compliance setting or similar field.

Working knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
