Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA) supports the University's mission by assisting Ball State personnel in the quest for external funding to carry out their research, scholarship, and creative activity as well as subsequent award administration of grants, contracts, and other funding agreements. SPA fosters an atmosphere of academic, scientific, and creative inquiry; internal and external collaboration; cross-disciplinary teamwork; entrepreneurial thinking; and community engagement while promoting integrity, responsibility, and ethics in all phases of scientific, intellectual, and artistic inquiry.
Proposal Specialist
Our proposal specialist position manages and facilitates the external proposal and service contract submission for faculty, students and staff. This person provides guidance and assists with the processing and tracking of service contracts and expedited proposals.
Grant Manager
A grant manager monitors and maintains sponsored project accounts for externally-funded awards received by the university from federal and state agencies, as well as private and international agencies and organizations. They ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, federal and state laws and regulations, and sponsor-specific guidelines; provide assistance to faculty and staff on assigned awards; process salary payments and approve purchases on sponsored projects. This position also prepares financial reports and invoices to grant-making agencies.
Outreach and Operations Coordinator
The outreach and operations coordinator will develop and implement the outreach and communication strategy of the SPA office. This position also provides administrative support for all of SPA, the Director of Sponsored Projects Development, the Director of Sponsored Project Administration, office educational offerings, and outreach events.
