    Do you have an interest in detail driven, analytical work that supports cutting edge health-related scholarship? University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis is seeking a manager of research compliance to provide structure to research administration and compliance. The University's sponsored research has grown tremendously in recent years and this position monitors institutional activities to ensure operation within regulation and policy, provides direction and integration of compliance activities, has responsibility for IRB operations; assists with pre-award activities for the university; training for university-wide research activities; and assists with research human resource onboarding. This salaried position reports to the assistant vice president for research administration & technology transfer. Hybrid remote and in-person on campus work is allowed for this position.

    You will get to:

    • Monitor research areas for compliance with federal, state, local or university laws, rules, regulations and guidelines; review, facilitate; provide guidance on new or changed regulations; develop, implement, and maintain written policies and procedures that foster and enhance compliance in research.
    • Manage compliance deficiencies and complaints; recommend corrective actions as required; report findings to university leadership and officials when appropriate; generate internal and external reports and assist in internal and external audits.
    • Overall responsibility for Institutional Review Board (IRB) operations; conduct reviews in response to allegations and findings of noncompliance; conduct reviews evaluating research team compliance and evaluate protocol review processes to ensure compliance regarding the protection of human subjects; coordinate IRB meetings and protocol reviews; maintain IRB records and official documentation; provide protocol development guidance to human subjects researchers
    • Support research development activities; identify and create training opportunities for the faculty and students; oversee internal funding opportunities to advance university-wide research agenda; assist faculty with pre-award research activities and human resource coordination; monitor grant activity; other duties as assigned
    • Provide advisory support in risk management; identify risks and prepare and revise risk assessments; maintain risk register for research related topics
    • Evaluate conflict of interest disclosures; identify potential institutional conflicts of interest and individual conflicts of interest and commitment; assist in development of conflict management plans

    To succeed in this role, you will need:

    • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience.
    • 5+ years of experience in a similar work environment, preferably in higher education with experience in institutional compliance, and regulations.
    • Proficient in various Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
    • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply complex federal, state, university, and accreditation regulations pertaining to human subjects and other research compliance
    • Self-motivated and highly organized; ability to make independent decisions; outgoing personality and helpful attitude; ability to deliver information about decisions that may be upsetting to faculty, staff, and students
