    Summary

    The Robotics Department is looking for a collaborative, customer-service focused professional to provide financial management, oversight, and ethical stewardship of University and sponsor funds for an assigned group of faculty members. Robotics is growing, and as a member of our team you will have the chance to grow along with us. Much of this work is deadline-driven, so you identify and resolve problems with an eye to minimizing delays. You exercise discretion, work proactively to anticipate challenges, and provide thoughtful customer service. You will report to the Unit Administrator.

    You Will:

    • Coordinate all administrative aspects of proposal submission (pre-award) to an assigned group of faculty.
    • Provide complete financial management, oversight, and recommendations to assigned faculty funding portfolios (post-award).
    • Collaborate with faculty to understand their research goals and help develop long-term funding and spending plans including financial projections and staffing plans.
    • Review and monitor financial transactions for appropriateness and allowability.
    • Collaborate on non-supervision human resources administrative tasks that are related to post-award project management, such as approving timesheets and recommending faculty and student appointments.
    • Provide some general administrative support to an assigned group of faculty and serve as a back-up for other Robotics research administrators

    Required Qualifications*

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Three years of accounting, financial monitoring, grant management, or similar experience
    • Experience tracking and projecting financial activity and commitments
    • Experience with an environment with tight regulatory and compliance requirements
    • Familiarity with a variety of financial tracking tools and software

    Desired Qualifications*

    • Three years of experience in customer service
    • Certified Research Administrator or CPA
    • Experience with federal funding agencies such as NSF, NIH, NASA, and DoD
    • Knowledge of University of Michigan policies and procedures, especially related to research administration
    • Familiarity with database systems, M-Pathways systems, Business Objects, and Google Suite
