    Arbor Research Collaborative for Health seeks an experienced Information Services Project Manager to join our application services team with specific involvement on the Childhood Liver Disease Research Network (ChiLDReN) project support team. This individual is responsible for creating and maintaining project schedules and work plans for information services activities, working with functional managers to manage BA, QA, and development project resources, and communicating project progress to stakeholders. A successful candidate will possess at least six years of project management experience with an emphasis on information technology or data management, have proficiency in project management software, and demonstrate a strong verbal and written communication style.

    Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the majority of interviews will be conducted remotely rather than in person. Currently, employees at Arbor Research are still able to work outside of the office. Ongoing flexibility regarding employee's work location may be available.

     

    All Arbor Research employees are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, except in limited circumstances where an employee is legally entitled to an accommodation. New employees will be required to submit proof of vaccination status prior to their first day.

     

    Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

    • Create and maintain project schedules and task-based work plans for information services Collaborate with the study's project manager on the project schedule and budget.
    • Responsible for the clear communication and understanding of the project goals, implementation and schedule by project development, project support and stakeholders.
    • Responsible for the clear communication of project progress to stakeholders (including investigators, area/program managers, and contracting agencies).
    • Responsible for issue triage, prioritization and assignment, and facilitated discussion with project team regarding the impact of issues and scope changes.
    • Organize the effort to define the project implementation, requirements specifications and up-to-date estimates for each project
    • Work with functional managers to manage BA, QA, and development project resources.
    • Work with leadership to improve business processes and technical functionality.
    • For projects whose primary management is within information services:
      • Work with finance/accounting staff to manage financial aspects of the project work plan and deliverables, including creating budgets from work plans, managing expenditures consistent with project and organizational fiscal year budgets
      • Assist the Grants & Contracts Counsel with negotiation of contract issues
      • Serve as the day-to-day liaison to a client or a funding agency's scientific or program leadership (e.g., project officers, program officers). Be proactively aware of all deliverables, grant objectives, and other issues affecting project progress

    Supervision Received

    General administrative supervision is received from the Applications Services Manager. Close      collaboration is expected with functional managers and staff members on the project team.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree with at least six (6) years progressively more responsible project management experience with an emphasis on information technology or data management, including requirements definition and task planning, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Familiarity with principles of application development programming and application user interface in an object-oriented environment
    • Ability to understand difficult technical concepts and communicate (orally and in-writing) with a range of technical and non-technical audiences
    • Experience in the direct and indirect management of large teams of people working toward complex goals
    • Proficiency with project management software
    • Excellent organizational and planning skills
    • Demonstrated strong verbal/written communication skills
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs

     

    Desirable Qualifications

    • Health services or public health research experience
    • Non-profit experience
    • Experience managing government grants and contracts for research
    • An understanding of bio statistical, technical programming, and clinical issues related to health care research in general
    • Familiarity with management and analysis of large databases
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • PMP certification or equivalent
    • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM)
