    Senior Financial Research Accountant, UNLV Sponsored Programs [R0133153]

    This position manages sponsored program accounts from the initiation of the account in the university's accounting system, Workday, through award close-out.  The position monitors financial activity on accounts, making decisions on allowability, allocability, reasonableness and consistency. 

    This senior FRA position will also assist the FRA Manager on special projects, interdisciplinary research projects that are complex with multiple subawards, act as the train the trainer to peers, faculty, and administration.  This position will act as a second when the FRA Manager is out of office and be able to step in to help the Associate Director of Post Award and Financial Compliance when needed.  This position will have secondary access to all portals for sponsor invoicing and act as backup for access. Other daily duties include:

    • Working with the research administrators on account set up
    • Review of budgets and accounts in Workday
    • Maintain knowledge of Uniform Guidance and other relevant grant regulatory requirements
    • Apply knowledge to the interpretation and analysis of grant documents
    • Regularly and consistently monitor fiscal activity on all grants for cost compliance
    • Monitor accounts in the university's accounting system through award close-out
    • Providing assistance and training, written and verbal, to faculty and staff in the appropriate management of sponsored program accounts
    • Producing invoices and financial reports
    • Reviews the business process approvals of purchasing cards and purchases requisitions
    • Budget revision and other financial post award requests to sponsors
    • Review of payroll accounting adjustments
    • Assisting with audit management and year-end close, including collection of samples and producing special reports
    • Problem resolution for post award issues
    • Responsible for follow-up/collection of outstanding receivables;
    • Oversight for subrecipient A-133 compliance
    • NIH Salary Cap review, cost-sharing and effort certification documentation; and
    • Assistance with development of the university's facilities and administration proposal and disclosure statement

    The senior FRA will also coordinate implementation efforts for the deployment of Cayuse to Workday cross walk of data, awards review of data and assist the FRA Manager as needed.  In addition, this position will be responsible for assigned colleges and departments for everyday workload. 

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    This position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and 3 – 5 years of Post Award experience. Experience in accounting or finance, private or public sector required.

     SALARY RANGE

    Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Salary range $72,000 - $83,000, dependent on experience.
