    Lehigh University's Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) has a great opportunity to join our dynamic team on our beautiful campus in Bethlehem, PA.  [Please note that we will be returning to campus in August 2021.]
     
    In the 2021 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings (released in September 2020), Lehigh ranked No. 49 among 389 institutions across the United States that offer undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees. In support of research at Lehigh, the ORSP staff provides services and support that enable members of the university community to compete successfully for outside funding and to manage their funded programs successfully.  
     
    The position of Contracts and Grant Specialist in the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs plays a key role in the University's goal of excellence in research. Responsible for providing a supportive environment for proposal review and submission; providing oversight, management and appropriate stewardship of sponsored funding; maintaining a broad interface with sponsors and the research and educational communities, interpreting, implementing and monitoring government and sponsor mandates as they affect the management of grants and contracts. A Contract and Grant Specialist functions with broad latitude using individual judgment and independent action and requires continuous education in the field of research administration.  
     
    Key Accountabilities:
    • Administers, coordinates and facilitates proposal preparation and submission through direct counsel with researchers, authorized institutional representatives and sponsors 
    • Negotiates and accepts funded project terms and conditions
    • Monitors and authorizes funded project financial and compliance activities from project inception through closeout, including audit, if applicable
    • Maintains broad interface with federal/state sponsors, industry and the research and educational community at large 
    Qualifications:
    1. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
    2. One to three years of Research Administration experience preferred
    3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    4. Excellent writing ability, organizational skills and attention to detail
    5. Solid analytical, decision making and problem solving skills
    6. Solid computer skills with experience using word processing and spreadsheet software
