Check out this exciting new opportunity in Stanford's School of Engineering (SoE) as our inaugural Conflict of Interest and Commitment Specialist. This position will work with faculty leadership, research administrators, and central policy experts to provide critical support for SoE personnel (faculty, staff, and postdocs) as they navigate increasing COIC requirements. Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty & Academic Affairs, the COIC Specialist will act as the COI/COC subject matter expert for SoE regarding the interpretation, implementation, and compliance with policies and regulations, and will be responsible for recommending actions and/or resolving complex issues to ensure institutional responsibilities are met. This position will play a key role in developing outreach and education for the SoE community as COIC policies and reporting requirements evolve, as well as day-to-day guidance to personnel regarding compliance.

In this role, you would:
- Represent COIC within the School of Engineering and support the SoE Dean's office in representing COIC programs or functions at the university level and/or to external/internal stakeholders and constituencies.
- Manage and contribute to the development of outreach strategy that may include relationship development, communications, and compliance.
- Oversee daily activities for COI, COC, and foreign engagement, including review of COI/COC disclosures and advising the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Academic Affairs on further actions.
- Review disclosure reporting from personnel as well as transactional and IP-related disclosures and those associated with gifts and industry affiliate agreements. Work closely with research administrators and the disclosing personnel to support compliance with funding agency COI requirements.
- Manage disclosure system infrastructure on behalf of SoE personnel; ensure SoE compliance with COI requirements in research awards, federal regulations, State of California law, and Stanford policies and procedures.
- Help develop and monitor adherence to management plans in coordination with Senior Associate Dean; maintain files of original Management Plans and Annual Reviews for existing conflicts. Coordinate with research administrators regarding any review or management plan activity related to sponsored projects.
- Coordinate (and develop, where needed) new tools and procedures supporting COI in the school, including web-based or interactive forms.
- Help identify and manage substantive disclosures that require Dean of Research input and review.
- Coordinate with Senior Associate Dean, Engineering Research Administration, and Global Engagement Review Program Director to review and support (and escalate as needed) compliance requirements related to foreign engagement activity.
- Direct and manage outreach strategy in SoE regarding COI/COC/foreign engagement policies and practices, including relationship development, communications, training, and compliance.
