Hi Leigh,
We make it a standard practice to go through each section to look over the reviewer's comments. Any comments that are restricted and need to be unrestricted, we change them at that time. It's not very time consuming, but it may be more beneficial for you to go through their comments. We sometimes have reviewers make comments that have already been addressed. Therefore, we are able to restrict those comments so that PIs are not contacting us as this may be an issue that has already been addressed. It generally only takes us about 10 minutes to look over the reviewer's comments to make sure that they are unrestricted or restricted, if necessary.

Subject: Changing Comments to Unrestricted
We recently had a reviewer forget to make their comments unrestricted prior to sending back to the PI. The PI never said anything and just sent the submission right back. As the Analyst, I cannot easily see where the reviewer has made comments, unless I go section by section and look for "Expand Comments". I also am not in the mode to have to go back through the submission to make sure all comments are made "unrestricted", unless a reviewer asks that of me. Has anyone else come across this? Any good way to deal with this? I have added some product ideas to Cayuse, ie. somehow have unrestricted/unresolved comments get moved into "Findings" in the Post Review and/or have some sort of reminder to the analyst/reviewer to make sure any comments that need to be seen by the Investigator have been changed to "Unrestricted".
Thanks!
