    UC Santa Cruz's Office of Research is looking for a creative, strategic, and forward-thinking Director of Research Compliance to lead our newly reorganized Office of Research Compliance Administration (ORCA). The ORCA Director provides direct oversight, accountability, administration, and management of UC Santa Cruz's compliance program, including human and animal subjects protection, conflict of interest, responsible conduct of research, export control, foreign engagement, stem cell research oversight, cannabis research oversight, and more. 
    The Director serves as a subject matter expert on relevant compliance issues, provides institutional responses to regulatory requirements, represents UC Santa Cruz at system-wide compliance meetings, and may act as a liaison between the organization and federal regulators. The right candidate will lead a team of specialists in providing comprehensive research compliance support to the campus community, provide educational training on complex federal regulations, state law, and university policies and procedures, and will use strong professional judgment in resolving issues of non-compliance, legal records requests, and agency inspections. 
    This position is on the front lines of all hot topic research administration areas, and will be a significant contributor to UC Santa Cruz's research growth and compliance readiness. Come work with us through this exciting opportunity!
    This position may be considered for hybrid or remote work, subject to the terms of a telecommuting agreement and dependent on the needs of OR leadership and the research community. Preference for this position will be given to applicants who are able to work a hybrid schedule.
    Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience.
