    Brief Position Summary

    This position is part of the Financial Compliance Team within the Grants, Finance and Operations division of the Office of Research Administration (ORA).

    Department-Specific Responsibilities

    • Serves a university-wide role with respect to the review of sponsored award transactions for allowability, allocability and reasonableness in accordance with appropriate federal and award guidelines.
    • Responsible for identification of potential unallowable transactions (exception reports), and documentation and/or resolution of reviewed transactions to help ensure University compliance with all externally funded projects on all campuses.
    • Responsible for conducting letter of credit payment requests from federal agencies for sponsored awards at Indiana University utilizing the proprietary IUDraw system as well as third party payment systems.
    • Required to be knowledgeable with the cash management requirements of Indiana University and the Office of Research Administration and be willing to assist with the facilitation of cash management and payment processing functions.
    • Advises faculty, researchers, departments, and other ORA staff with respect to:
      • Allowable transactions to ensure compliance with agency and University policies, guidelines, and procedures.
      • Requirements and function of letter of credit awards at Indiana University, as well as associated questions and issues.
      • University requirements and best practices with respect to cash management, as well as associated cash management questions and issues.
      • Participates and advises in policy development related to grants and administration, expense allowability and financial compliance.

     

    Required Qualifications

     

    Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field

    2 years in finance, financial administration, accounting, or related field
     

    Preferred Qualifications

     

    • Accounting or financial experience 
    • 2 years in research administration or a related field.
