    JOB SUMMARY:
    Operational Leader who provides day-to-day oversight to the post award office. The overarching duties of Operations, Financial Management and Project Administration are all of equal importance. Supervision and Management is also a primary duty as this position is #2 to the department Director and is manager to a staff of employees. Performs other duties as assigned

    JOB DUTIES:
    25% - Essential - Operations: Works collaboratively and professionally with other areas within the Divisions of Research, Finance Operations and Colleges to provide excellent customer service, strategic support, and guidance on post-award grant administration activities. Establishes a strong working relationship with colleges and departments, becoming a trusted advisor on Grant management, internal controls, and compliance activities. Provides oversight to key systems and processes associated with the administration of sponsored awards. Responsible for the supervision and performance of the month-end and year-end accounting close activities. Monitor post-award non-financial grant management activities and follow up with faculty on non-compliant progress report submissions and assist with staff activities and college requests as needed.

    25% - Essential - Financial Management: Responsible for the oversight and end-to-end management of sponsored project post-award activities for approx. 800 new and 1,000 continuation projects annually, $600M in active project budgets and $135M in sponsored expenditures, as well as establishing and maintaining proper controls, documentation, and supervision of the Federal Letters of Credit, Reporting, Invoicing, Collection and Closeout of sponsored projects by staff.  Reviews and approves staff entries that exceed self-approval thresholds, and ensuring the accuracy, completeness and timely submission of internal work papers and reports prepared by staff and provided to university sponsors.

    25% - Essential - Project Administration, Compliance & Training: Responsible for improving and maintaining a proactive university-wide grants management environment that includes establishing effective processes, efficient standard operating procedures developing University procedures and guidance documents. Evaluate and manages key processes that strengthen internal controls associated with the administration of grant and contract awards.  Provide overall support to the ERP, Research Enterprise, and other systems to ensure the proper maintenance and effective compliance processes are maintained. Develop and deliver internal/external training on grant management policies, procedures, processes, and compliance activities.

    25% - Essential - Leadership and Supervision: Articulate the mission, vision and strategic directives of the office, as well as represents GCA to both internal and external constituencies of the university. In the absence of the director, assumes responsibility for the operations and functions of the office, assists the director with the operational and strategic implementation of systems, processes, change management, and training activities for both interoffice and institution-wide programs. Leads and supervises a staff of exempt and non-exempt employees and ensures proper training, self-development and goal setting activities are incorporated as part of their annual performance evaluation and professional growth.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    Education - Master's Degree - experience in a related field and in oversight of contract and grant administration activities.
