    Job Details:

    This position is primarily remote, with the option to utilize as needed our shared touch-down space located at the Dell Medical School campus in downtown Austin.  This position is not eligible for relocation assistance.  Out of state applicants not intending to relocate to Texas may require additional approvals and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.  Remote work will require reliable internet service and a suitable workspace free from distractions.

     

    Purpose

     

    The purpose of this position is to support all financial aspects of the negotiation and execution of clinical trial agreements on behalf of the Dell Medical School.  This includes budget development, coverage analysis, budget negotiations, and post-award financial management support.

     

    Responsibilities

     

    Clinical Trial Budgeting & Negotiation

    In collaboration with PI and study team, evaluate protocol schedule of events (SOE) as compared to sponsor-offer budget SOE, including assessment of missing items and completion of Medicare Coverage Analysis.

     

    • Develop internal UT Austin Dell Medical School comparative budget.

     

    • Liaise with 3rd parties (UTHA, Seton Ascension, CPL, etc) for inclusion of specific costs.

     

    • Negotiate with sponsor of all industry-sponsored clinical trial budgets.

     

    • Review all procedures and related costing information for non-industry sponsored trials.

     

    • Other related functions as assigned.

     

    Industry Clinical Trial Financial Management

    • Liaise with Sponsored Projects Award Administration (SPAA) to ensure timely and accurate invoicing for applicable costs.

     

    • Use clinical trial trackers (internal documentation) and sponsor notices/cash receipts, reconcile accounts.

     

    • Work with departmental staff and PI to ensure appropriate allocation of costs.

     

    • Work with SPAA to ensure accurate budgeting.

     

    • Other related functions as assigned.

     

    Required Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree and seven (7) years' experience in industry-sponsored clinical trial budgeting. Experience with clinical trial financial reconciliations.  Demonstrated ability to work both as a team member and independently without continuous supervision. Demonstrated ability to work with overlapping projects and with sensitive and confidential information. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and efficiently, and to work skillfully in a deadline drive, customer-service oriented office. Proficient use of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, Adobe Professional, along with the ability to navigate various online portals and systems.     Preferred Qualifications

    Progressively responsible industry-sponsored clinical trial management experience. Experience working within an Academic Medical Center or Medical School. Knowledge of medical terminology and/or experience as a clinical coordinator/research nurse. Experience supporting tenure or tenure-track faculty members. Knowledge of UT Austin's financial and/or research management systems is a plus.

     

    Salary Range

    $85,000 + depending on qualifications

     

    Working Conditions

    May work around standard office conditions.

     

    Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.

     

    Occasional weekend, overtime and evening work to meet deadlines.
