Position Overview:
The Administrative Financial Specialist positions within the Office of Sponsored Programs are responsible for the financial management of all externally funded sponsored projects. This position will apply a solid understanding of federal, state, and other regulations and processes surrounding sponsored projects in order to ensure financial stewardship of funds and minimize university risk of loss due to non-compliance. They act as intermediaries between the funded university units and the sponsor and act as a resource for questions regarding specific contractual requirements. Additionally, employees in these positions must often translate complex regulatory requirements into layman's terms.
Key Accountabilities:
- Preparing and completing the closeout of sponsored project awards
- Ensuring collection of funds from sponsors
- Creating and submitting periodic and final financial reports to federal agencies and other sponsors
- Overseeing the financial administration of ongoing sponsored projects
