    Education: Bachelor's Degree required. A master's or PhD in a Science discipline is preferred that demonstrate understanding/experience in scientific research.

    Experience: Three years of working experience with an IRB office regarding social, behavioral, & educational research, grant proposal development, review, & submission. Experience related to grants and contracts management. In addition, working knowledge of federal rules and regulations/terms and conditions relating to grant applications, grant awards and/or contract activity. Experience performing and/or evaluating research for sound design and ethical implementation.

    Duties:  The Assistant Director, Houston Research Office will provide strategic, proactive, catalytic, and capacity-building activities designed to grow the research portfolio at College of Health Science, Houston. This position is necessary to enhance the ability of faculty to attract extramural support, and also to foster a highly collaborative environment supporting faculty, students, and staff with pre-award, post-award, and compliance support. This position provides direct support to the Houston Institutional Review Board.

    Work is performed under general supervision and performance evaluation is based upon completion of assignments and results obtained.  The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies and Procedures.
