    Hi everyone,

Our department is looking into adding Cayuse Analytics to our current modules. Can anyone who uses the Analytics module provide me with some information about how your institution uses the module and what you like about it's functionality?

    Thanks!

I could have sworn I answered this question from Oakland University's perspective - but the answer isn't here.  Either I'm hallucinating or I sent it privately.  Sigh.....

In short, we have very definitely NOT maxed out our use of metrics.  We're still learning.  But here's the back story.  There is a pervasive mythology on campus that Sponsored Programs is simply a bureaucratic hurdle trying to get in the way of research rather than support it.  As is the way of these things, it's not ENTIRELY without merit.  But we're working really hard to change that.  And one of the ways is to be really transparent with our data.

Right now I'm obsessing a little about post-award monitoring  - doing everything we have to do to protect the science, the researchers, and the university, while doing that in a faculty-forward way that reduces their adminsitrative burden as far as I reasonably can.  So I'm getting way down in the weeds..... where are costs transfers coming from and why?  Can we do better there?  How long does it take to get a fund number set up and for spending to begin?   This isn't stuff I report out to the campus community, but it does tell me where to look for potential process improvements.

Also, as an ERI - emphasis on the "emerging!"- Academic Affairs is looking closely at the ratios among research, instruction, and "other" awards.  So, I do report out about that.  Analytics also lets me allay Deans' worries when they see awards and proposals go down from one year to the next.  It allows us to take the longer view and  -perhaps- point out that proposals went down because all the likely players are funded and working on their projects.  They don't NEED to apply right now.

I have more.... lots more..... but let's see if this posts first ;)

    Hi Beverly,

We have access to Cayuse Analytics. It has some great capabilities and fancy visuals. My experience is that you will have to play around to see if the reports that Analytics can provide are aligned with your institution's reporting needs and check if the numbers pulled are using the same markers as your current reports. I still have to pull reports from Cayuse Connect in combination with Analytics to satisfy our institution's reporting needs.

In the recent update of Analytics, some of the items that we requested were implemented so it is definitely worth submitting enhancement requests.
