The Cayuse community is thrilled to shine its Champion Spotlight on @Maureen Wawsczyk, MBA, CIP, Research Integrity & Compliance Officer at Ferris State University. Keep reading below to get to know Maureen!
How do you interact with Cayuse products on a daily basis?
I interact with Human Ethics (IRB) on a daily basis. I manage committee meetings via the platform and screen all applications before assigning them to committee members for formal review. I modify the templates as needed and send out approval letters to investigators.
What do you see as the hottest trends in research today?
Creating innovative hubs for people to share their ideas and draw from each other to work smarter, not harder. Also, utilizing AI technology to research questions in new ways.
What do you consider most promising in the era of big data?
Being able to tap into so much meta data to get precise with analysis and more specific with results. Also, more encouragement from funding agencies and a willingness from investigators to share results with each other to lead to promising and effective change.
How can an organization stay relevant five years from now?
By staying relevant with the times while looking ahead at trends. It’s important to understand what the current generation values and adapt accordingly. It’s equally important to tap into what future generations might value to stay ahead of the curve.
What app would be hard for you to live without?
Spotify. Music is such a lifesaver in our household and on our many road trips!
What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy biking, hiking, camping, and reading. I love to travel and explore new places. I have a sweet tooth and love to bake – especially cookies!
If you could meet any historical figure, who would you choose and why?
Barabra Walters. I read her biography and it was fascinating. Not only is she accomplished in her own right, but the number of people she has met and interviewed over her lifetime is quite remarkable.
Thank you, Maureen, for being a Cayuse Champion and sharing your thoughts!
