    Unit Mission Statement
    The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) partners with researchers across the institution to provide the best opportunity for researchers to be successful with obtaining and managing external awards.

    OSP does this by facilitating all aspects of proposal submission, providing in-depth knowledge of and expertise in both pre and post award services, ultimately serving as stewards for the Institute’s overall research efforts.

    Research Compliance is a sub-unit of the Office of Sponsored Programs and provides the operational support to the Research Regulatory Oversight Committees ( i.e., IRB, IACUC and IBC), the Faculty Research Committee and the Financial Conflict of Interest Committee.
    Position Summary
    William & Mary’s Manager of Research Compliance is responsible for managing a comprehensive research compliance program for the purpose of identifying and lowering research compliance risk to W&M. Manages research compliance and implements policy for matters related to human subjects and animal research, biosafety, radiation, and the responsible conduct of research. Primary point of contact for reporting research compliance matters to federal agencies. Reports to the OSP Director and frequently interacts directly with the Vice Provost for Research, EH&S, and other related positions.

    Required Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited institution or comparable education and experience.
    • Several years’ experience in a position of responsibility within a research compliance program in a university setting that includes tracking and review of protocols and oversight of animal care, biosafety, and/or human subject protocols.
    • Knowledge of federal and state requirements covering university research compliance activities.
    • Knowledge of management software applications, particularly those designed to track research administration and compliance activities in a university environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently, maintaining confidentiality, and exercising discretion in managing a range of research compliance functions.
    • Demonstrates excellent written, verbal, and editing skills, with a customer service focus and attention to detail.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Relevant professional certification. Such as Certified IRB Professional (CIP), Certified IRB Manager (CIM), Certified Research Administrator (CRA) or completion of CITI courses that are broader in content coverage.
    • Experience in developing and documenting policies.
    •Experience maintaining a website

    Advertised Pay Range Up to $85,000 commensurate with experience
