Hi Cayuse Community,
We had an issue arise recently whereby a former member of one of our ethics committees was still receiving notifications to review an ethics application in Ethics Monitor. This was because she had not completed a review or gone into the system to 'decline' the invite when she was still on the committee and she had been invited to review it.
The person in question had left the committee six months earlier. In addition, the committee had deemed that enough reviews had been completed, and had returned the application to the applicant for amendments to be made. So while the person was still being prompted to review the application, the review had in effect been completed.
We therefore had two suggestions which we would like to see introduced into Ethics Monitor:
- When a person leaves an ethics committee, any incomplete / 'pending' review requests against them are automatically removed from the system.
- Once a committee has deemed a review to be complete and returned it to the applicant for amendments, that any requests to review the application that have not been actioned and shown as 'pending' are removed. (I understand in those circumstances that the committee representative can 'cancel' reviews that have not been actioned before sending the application back to the applicant, but we believe it would be useful if the system was able to instead automatically delete those 'pending' reviews upon the application going back to the applicant).
We'd be interested to hear your thoughts as to whether any of you would also find these features useful if they could be implemented.
Thanks,
