Given the news that OSTP is asking federal funding agencies to develop policies requiring all federally funded investigators to secure a persistent digital ID that will be associated with research reports (and, I have to think, proposals will eventually get stuck with this requirement as well), can we add a place for entering ORCIDs on the Contact Information section of the personal profile in Proposals (or Admin, for folks on or migrating to the platform)? We're already encouraging our early career researchers to get these, and will be urging everyone else to do so as well. May as well capture it in their profile along with the other IDs we need, right?

    Hi Michael,

I asked some colleagues about this and currently there is no place in Proposals to enter ORCID, but it sounds like there is a field for ORCID in the Platform Admin in the External Identifiers section:

The ORCID can be entered manually or can be imported via the API/HR Connect using the person-external-identifiers-controller endpoint.

I hope this is helpful. Let me know if I misunderstood the question or you have any additional questions!

    Hi, Simon-

At some point in the future I expect that we'll need to add a field for ORCID to Proposals, but for now as long as there's a place to put it on the platform, that'll do. Always nice to have a way of reminding a PI about an ID (or just being able to copy and paste it when I need it).

    Thanks!
