If you haven't done so already, I'd love if you'd upload a profile picture of yourself and then introduce yourself briefly in the comments below by answering one or all of the questions below

    • What would make this community amazing for you?
    • How do you use Cayuse products?

Here's a little about me: I am a digital community enthusiast and I am excited about connecting with all of you! So feel free to reach out to me!

Hello, my name is Nicole Hicks. I am a student at Liberty University and I am primarily focused on getting my IRB review approved so that I can begin interviewing participants. I have actually had one participant contact my to volunteer for an interview and I have asked them to hold on until this process gets completed. I do think I will get far more out of this community than I initially realized, thank you for making this experience great and very rewarding.

    Hello!

My name is DJ.  I just joined the Cayuse Community this week.  Our institution is in the process of implementing Cayuse.  The first part of the implementation should go live this month.  It's so exciting!

I am in the post award world of things but have been sitting in on the preaward - I find value in seeing the whole picture.  I have been in grants and contracts post award for over 15 years - just a year with my current institution.

I am hoping to use this community as a resource to get optimal use/function out of our Cayuse set up!

Hello.  My name is Angela.  I have recently joined Kennesaw State University as the Director of the IRB Office.  KSU has only recently begun to use Cayuse but it's implementation was prior to my arrival.  So, I am the newbie in using this system here.  In my former institution, I was using Huron's IRB system.  It had it's ups and downs but one thing I learned from that experience: Don't Break the Box.  My former IRB chose to customize the product to death in an effort to make it fit our existing business model.  After a great deal of pain and suffering, we realized that it would have been better to alter our business model to work with the product.  Of course, by that time, it was too late to turn back.  We missed out on all of the subsequent updates to the product which made the changes needed for the New Rule much more of a challenge that it should have been.  Live and Learn.  I am working on learning about the work flows in Cayuse and also gearing up to change our submission form as I have discovered we are not capturing some important information needed for review.  I am looking for as much as I can find on the Cayuse support site to help me learn all of the capabilities of the product and how to use it to its fullest.  I appreciate any tips, tricks, tools, etc that anyone would like to share.

    Hello,

My name is Lorraine Bell and I mostly use the Animal Procurement portion of our Application.  (quite an improvement from the old pen and paper days!)

I'm mostly hoping to hear from other peer institutions about their procedures for ordering and receiving animals from vendors.   What works well for you?   What gives you headaches?

Hi, my name is Sheri Farnum.  I'm the Associate Director in the Office of Sponsored Programs at Whitehead Institute.  We are a small biomedical research institute and I work on the pre-award side.  We've had Cayuse for about 6 1/2 years now and  we use SP and 424.  I'm interested in connecting with other folks who are in pre-award and learn how you are using Cayuse at your Institute.

    Hi Sheri,

We use SP and 424 as well. I'd be happy to walk through any of our processes, if that's helpful. Do you also use the Lawson Effort module? I believe your institution's name came up today in a call, as we are upgrading to Lawson/Infor v11. If so, I'd love to connect about that and any workflows that you all might have between the two systems. Ours our currently stand alone and we are just beginning to explore where/if integrations make sense.

    Thanks!
    Amanda

    HI Everyone,
My name is Steve Sweet and I joined Vitalant Research Institute about a year ago.  We are a smallish research Institute that is part of a larger nationwide blood bank, so our primary focus is on issues related to the blood and the impacts on the blood supply.  When I got here we were not using any electronic systems to manage either pre- or post-award so we began a Cayuse implementation in 2020 that is continuing now.  We are really looking forward to getting up to speed, but I am sure we will have lots of questions and will want to rely heavily on the community who will have the experiences and be able to offer advice as we ramp up.

Hi, My name is Jennifer Mills and I am a Sr. Grant Specialist and ERA at the University of Alabama.  We are looking into Fund Manager as well and I would love to hear about what feedback you get from your faculty and research administrators with this added feature.  I am in the process of helping my colleagues see the advantages to having this feature.
