    Description

    The Center of Health and Rehabilitation Research (CoHRR) is an interdisciplinary research center on NYU's Washington Square Campus focusing on the Allied Health disciplines of Communicative Sciences and Disorders, Nutrition, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Drama, Music, and Arts Therapy. CoHRR began in 2018, and has amassed a portfolio of over $10 million in research grants from the NIH, NSF, and various foundations and international agencies. Through collaborative and interdisciplinary research, CoHRR brings together scholars at NYU Steinhardt that investigate health, mental health, physical function, cognition, communication, physical activity, and nutrition to improve human function and participation. CoHRR also serves as the home of the Rehabilitation Sciences PhD program at NYU.

     

    Position Summary

     

    CoHRR seeks a full-time staff member to oversee post-award grants management and operations support, including for the Rehabilitation Sciences PhD program. This position provides critical support for faculty conducting groundbreaking interdisciplinary research locally, nationally, and internationally and serves as the post-award liaison to several key operational units across the University (e.g., Sponsored Programs Administration, Office of Sponsored Programs, etc.). This position also collaborates with Steinhardt offices to ensure the consistent application of school policies. The person in this position will work closely with the CoHRR Director and the Director of the Rehabilitation Sciences PhD program as well as the Steinhardt Office of Research. 

    Essential Functions

    Post-Award Grants Management (~65%)

    Provide post-award support and services for projects administered through the Center, including grants from federal, foundation and other funding sources, contracts and service agreements, and other revenue (e.g., internal funds, gifts). Meet with Principal Investigators (PIs) regularly to discuss spending plans and any necessary revisions to grant budgets; monitor and facilitate award setup or transfer processes; and oversee all procedures related to subcontracts, consulting agreements, reports, expenditures, and budget setup within NYU accounting systems.  Oversee personnel management for researchers employed on CoHRR projects, including onboarding/offboarding, costing changes, and reappointments. Liaise with the Office of Global Services to secure work authorization for foreign nationals. Provide training and support to PIs and their staff as they navigate general and project-specific challenges in grants management. Oversee financial reporting to federal, private foundation, and other funders. Maintain strong working knowledge of University policies/procedures and applicable federal/private foundation guidelines nationally and internationally and advise PIs on their interpretation and application. Work with PIs to prepare/submit correspondence with sponsors, including narrative reports and prior approval requests. Collaborate with NYU's central Sponsored Programs Administration office to submit financial reports for all CoHRR-managed grants. Monitor spending on CoHRR projects, track expenses against approved budgets, recover payments, and perform timely closeout of sponsored accounts. Ensure CoHRR complies with federal effort reporting requirements for personnel costs charged to sponsored programs.

    Center Operations, Communications, and Logistics (~25%)

    Provide management support to ensure the seamless functioning and running of CoHRR. Draft annual benchmark and communications reports and put in place processes to ensure consistent progress to meet goals. Set-up and manage systems for the orderly initiation, planning, monitoring, and completion of Center initiatives and activities including Seed Award competition and annual Spring Research Showcase. Provide oversight for ongoing projects to ensure they are effectively moving according to planned objectives and established milestones. Participate and represent the Center in key meetings to ensure appropriate and responsive follow-up and accountability. 

    Organize internal and external correspondence to facilitate efficient communication with various stakeholders. Anticipate and supervise the compilation of materials for meetings, appointments, and special events. Research, draft, edit, and proofread for content and accuracy information about Center initiatives to distribute through internal and external communication channels. Maintain and update Center websites to highlight current events and initiatives. Assist with the maintenance of a consistent and relevant presence on Center social media accounts. Manage Center mailing lists and create and design email marketing campaigns. 

    Organize the logistical needs of the Center and troubleshoot challenges. Coordinate virtual and in-person meetings and events, including scheduling, setting up Zoom meetings/webinars, booking rooms, managing RSVPs, developing advertising materials, and ordering catering. Organize transportation and accommodation for researchers traveling for CoHRR initiatives and for invited guests coming to NYU.

    Rehabilitation Sciences PhD Program Support (~10%)

    Maintain and update the program website to reflect current program affiliates and students. Organize program committee meetings and support internal processes such as annual reports. Assist with the annual admissions process including advertising, organizing possible recruitment and yield events, and organizing committee meetings and candidate interviews. Manage annual student research awards.

    In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Law, the annual base salary range for this position is $73,000 - $95,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

    Qualifications

    BA required; MA preferred with five years of progressively responsible experience in federal, foundation, and/or international grants management within a University or non-profit setting. Skilled in the use of Microsoft Excel with prior experience managing large, complex budgets and supervising teams. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer service orientation and experience managing communications with diverse stakeholders. Highly responsive. Flexible and able to routinely juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment. Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with diverse groups of stakeholders including faculty, students, and department, school and university administrators. NYU experience strongly preferred.
