    The School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Virginia seeks candidates to support the operations of Post Award Research Administration within the Dean's Office as a Grants and Contracts Administrator. Duties include grants management, administrative services and financial services, effort reporting, procurement and accounting services. This position will work closely with various stakeholders across the University and the School to provide high quality customer service for research faculty and staff.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and managing research awards for Engineering research faculty. The ideal candidate will support researchers in: 

    • Planning and managing research awards from start to completion and manage project/contract to scope, schedule and budget.

    • Compile, analyze, and interpret complex data, provide technical analysis, financial guidance, and projections.

    • Understand, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, contracts, budgets, and labor/management agreements. Analyze situations, identify problems, and recommend solutions specifically the interpretation of funding agency regulations and requirements.

    • Monitor award and project progress and compliance.

    • Review and approve invoices, purchasing orders and other forms of procurement.

    • Handle document preparation, reconciliation review and prepare various reports and requests for stakeholders as required.

    • Negotiate successful resolutions to various situations while demonstrating a high level of attention to detail.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree with at least 3 years of grant and contracts experience is required. Four additional years or experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 3-4 years of experience managing grants finances.

    • Preference will be given to candidates with a master's degree

    • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of applications and the ability to learn how to use UVA's financial, research and/or student systems is required. Preference for those candidates who are currently proficient in using UVA's Workday and Huron systems.

    • The ability to work collaboratively in a team unit as well as work independently with minimal supervision, communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, interact professionally with faculty and staff and negotiate successful resolutions to various situations while demonstrating a high level of attention to detail.

    • Certified Research Administrator (CRA).

    • Remote/telework may be considered

    Physical Demands:

    This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require walking some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

    This position will remain open until filled. Review of applications will begin October 3, 2022. This is an Exempt level, benefited position.     Salary range $60k to $70k.
