During COVID, the allowability fell on the organizations. If your institution has policy on travel insurance, you should follow that. That guidance is provided for a number of cost categories, so I'd imagine it's the same now. Remember, allocable and reasonable. If your institution does not have a policy on travel insurance, the cost should be well-justified, and the sponsor will generally make a determination upon review.
