We have similar types of research. Officially, COVID protocols have been significantly relaxed, so no. We no longer require PIs to wear masks.

Subject: COVID 19 guidelines for in-person research
I have a question for everyone. How are you all handling COVID guidelines for in-person research? We are having this discussion with the IRB staff and trying to come up with a directive on this. We have PIs who do in-home research, in-classroom research, in close proximity with children, sometimes the elderly etc. Are you all still requiring that PIs and their Co-PIs wear masks for in-person? What are you requesting from your PIs and research personnel in these cases? Note: some of our PIs are across the country in states or municipalities that have never required masking or social distancing.
