    Good morning,

Most of our protocols are not written by the PI.  Is there any way for the IACUC office to identify who wrote the protocol? Most often they'll be listed in the Personnel section but if there are several listed, it would be a guess.  And I realize several people might contribute so I have a feeling the answer is going to be no.

    Thank you!

    Hi Amy,

I don't think you can easily figure out who wrote the protocol text.  However (assuming the Platform works the same way as the version of Site Administration that we still use), you can check on who has been included in the PI's Member Group, which may narrow the contenders down a bit.

Another thought--when a non-PI author hits the Submit button, the PI receives an email; perhaps you can arrange for the IACUC office to be cc'd on that notification, which would identify the person that had submitted it to the PI.

    Cheers,

    Cheryl

Thank you, Cheryl! That's a great work-around, I'll get the office added to those emails.

As far as the PI groups, which I set up, some are quite large so it might still be a guess.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

We used this work-around at my last institute and it was very helpful. If I'm remembering correctly, the email to the PI actually said who had made the submission.

    Hi Amy,

I'm not sure if you have access to the Oracle data or not, but I believe the PRTCLRV and PRTCLPG tables can tell you this.

Hello - While we are still in implementation, my understanding is that for Animal Oversight (on the platform) the personnel table within the protocol contains a field called "Requester?" and this is meant to represent the individual who created the protocol. In all honesty I'm still waiting to fully validate it because it doesn't seem to work consistently in our training environment. But I've been told that this is its intent. Also consider that one person might initiate the protocol and others jump in and contribute to other pages as needed so this field even if it works might not be what you are seeking.

Thank you everyone!  I probably posted that question a little prematurely.  I did indeed discover that the email going to the PI states who submitted it, which is very helpful.

I truly appreciate your responses.  More questions to come I'm sure, we're navigating our first submission right now.

    All the best,
    Amy
