  • 1.  Confusion over multiple uses of Cayuse Platform, and Connect

I've received questions about the Cayuse Platform due to confusion over the term being used in multiple ways by Cayuse. Users saw it at the conference when discussing the transition to smart forms.  Here, there's a Connect Community "Cayuse Platform" with discussions about training videos and Data Connect demo's which is making some think the definition refers to the suite of Cayuse products.

Similarly, the conference is referred to as Connect... and so is this forum for communication.

With so many changes - and (fingers-crossed) improvements - happening with the Cayuse products ... is it possible to pick one unique name for something and to stick with it to avoid this confusion?

Or perhaps add a brief description in the big blue banner to define each community?

Anyone else getting questions or confused?

    Hi Terri,

Lots of changes with naming lately, along with the introduction of 'platform' recently, so understand there being some confusion. I hope the following helps:
The platform as it was highlighted during the conference is the underlying technology that is enabling our full suite approach, which is why it's on the bottom of this visual that was used -

In terms of the community, we moved towards creating conversation areas that mapped to this visual. But again, given platform is a new word, your suggestion to provide a brief description for this and other areas I think is a great one. We'll work on that asap, but also just to provide some clarity now in this thread, as you can see in the box that contains 'Cayuse Platform', elements like integrations are included. In addition, most (not all) of the items within the Platform part of the visual are more backend elements that research administrators (vs. PI's, etc.) would be working with so the thinking we had we creating this area of conversation on the community was to create a place for threads around HR Connect (integrations) and other research administrator topics that were specific to Cayuse technology but may not fall exactly within any of the other conversation areas we had created. For many of the other areas in the community, the threads may or may not be about Cayuse (e.g. in Pre-Award possibly there could be a convo on 424 but also maybe some best practice on grant submissions).

Lastly, as the Cayuse team aligned around a new mission statement, the key element of it really is the word 'Connect'. We believe in empowering globally connected research, and it's part of the reason the annual conference name changed to Connect by Cayuse, and why this community is named Connect Community. You've identified the one main wrinkle in our update though which is the product 'Data Connect' we've had for a while. We opted not to change that name (or HR Connect) because ultimately it reinforces one aspect of connecting.

Again, we totally understand that when introducing new terms it definitely can lead to questions. Thanks for bringing this up, and let me know if this response helps answer those or not.

    Thanks,
    Adam

Thank you, Adam. I'll share your answers with our staff who had the questions.

And we'll do our best going forward to ask if it's "this" definition or "that" to ensure we're discussing the same thing.
