Overview: The Institute of Human Development and Social Change (IHDSC) is the largest interdisciplinary research center on NYU's Washington Square Campus with a portfolio of over $50 million in active research grants. We support a diverse portfolio of research grants in the United States and internationally, funded by federal funding agencies, foundations, and international agencies. Through collaborative and interdisciplinary research, IHDSC works to bridge the disconnect between the science of human development and policies and practices that affect children, youth, and families in diverse contexts. We support rigorous research and training across social, behavioral, educational, policy, communication, and health sciences. Our research teams work with communities, policymakers, and practitioners to answer key questions about health and wellbeing, education and child development, justice and child welfare, and race, poverty, and inequality.
