The Department of Medicine, Aging Institute at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Research Technician.The Research Technician will work in a state-of-the-art, internationally recognized research program in the areas of metabolism, adipose tissue biology, and functional genomics. Under the supervision of the PI and working with team members including graduate students and post-doctoral fellows, the Research Technician is responsible for performing mouse studies and executing molecular and cell-biological experiments. The incumbent will be expected to troubleshoot technical issues, clearly document experimental protocols, data and activities in an electronic lab notebook, carefully interpret data, conduct necessary analyses and present data at internal meetings. Frequent communication of results, issues, and needs with PI, other lab personnel contribution to day-to-day lab management are necessary. This position requires conceptual knowledge of cell and molecular biology, genetics, and biochemistry. Multi-tasking several experiments simultaneously and efficient time management is necessary. Qualifications
Degree in biology or relevant scientific field preferred. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted.
