    Project Director, Research Administration Information Technology - NYU 


    Position Summary

    The Project Director supports information technology for the Offices under the purview of the Vice Provost for Research (OVPR). This position is responsible for developing information management systems and software support for these departments. It also develops strategic plans for upgrades and maintenance of software applications in conjunction with OVPR leaders. This position assists with electronic submission of research proposals and shares information about system and process changes. The individual in this role extracts, integrates, and manipulates data to create reports and dashboards, analytical datasets in response to requests and needs from the research team, researchers, and data warehouse. The Project Director directs the implementation, deployment of research enterprise applications, grants management tools, and systems and internal data warehouses to support the strategic research mission across the Offices of the Vice Provost for Research at New York University. The incumbent is responsible for working closely with principal investigators, central and school-level research administrators, and fiscal, HR, and compliance officers to provide sponsored project data management support for proposals, awards, and compliance aspects of research projects that feed data warehouses sourced for reporting and dashboards utilized for operations, decision making, and benchmarking.

     

    Qualifications

    Required Education:
    Bachelor's Degree

    Preferred Education:
    Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

    Required Experience:
    7+ years of experience with technology, reporting, enterprise application deployment. Experience in the planning and implementation of information systems, enterprise integration, and databases across units. 3+ years of experience in a supervisory, project management or research capacity.

    Preferred Experience:
    5+ years of experience in an academic and/or research environment.

    Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
    Excellent planning, analytical, problem solving, and communication skills. Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience. Working competency in Cayuse Research Suite, Sponsored Projects (SP), Proposals ( 424), Outside Interests, IRB, IACUC\Facilities, Fund Manager, and InfoReady. Knowledge of a variety of current and emerging technologies. Excellent verbal and writing skills and demonstrated an aptitude for problem-solving. Excellent analytical skills. Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees.

    Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
    Excellent planning, analytical, problem solving, and communication skills. Ability to communicate with both business and technology-related information in oral, written, and graphic form to individuals with varying backgrounds. Proficiency with web/database design/architecture/programming, including XHTML, CSS, XML, PHP. Knowledge of a variety of current and emerging technologies. Demonstrated familiarity with current Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau and SQL server Data collection, analysis and interpretation, project management and assessment, database management Experience with data warehouse concepts and technology and reporting and using data to inform decision-making Aptitude to analyze user requirements and build reports and/or BI solutions according to specifications Knowledge of NSF FastLane, Grants.gov, NIH eRA, and other electronic submission systems. Must be well versed in quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy, and legitimacy of data in NYU systems and be able to strictly follow data privacy and security procedures for data handling and analysis to ensure adherence to legal and institutional standards. Knowledge of the higher education environment, its business processes, data needs, and reporting requirements. Knowledge of SaaS Cayuse Research Suite (Pre-Award application Cayuse SP, 424, Outside Interest, IRB, IACUC\Facilities, Fund Manager, and InfoReady. Must be well versed in quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy, and legitimacy of data in NYU systems and be able to strictly follow data privacy and security procedures for data handling and analysis to ensure adherence to legal and institutional standards. Well-versed in Pre-award processes and procedures.
