Oregon State University has a unique opportunity to join our sponsored programs office to work on one of the largest National Science Foundation projects in the country. OSU was selected to construct three Regional Class Research Vessels (RCRVs) for NSF. We are currently in the construction phase with all three vessels under construction in a Louisiana shipyard. NSF has already selected the three operating institutions: Oregon State University, the East Coast Oceanographic Consortium led by the University of Rhode Island, and the Gulf-Caribbean Oceanographic Consortium co-led by the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON) and the University of Southern Mississippi. Few sponsored programs office positions will have such a concrete result as to watching these vessels sail out of their ports on their science missions!
This position is dedicated to support the RCRV project but, is not directly grant funded. This is not a limited duration position and it sits in OSU's centralized sponsored projects office (Office for Sponsored Research and Award Administration). While the third vessel is expected to be completed in 2025, this position will be transitioned to the support of other large or complex projects that can benefit from dedicated fiscal and accounting support. This position includes the setup of restricted indexes in OSU's financial system, the monitoring and tracking of revenue and expenditures, requesting and documenting the drawdown of funds, audit support, the submission of project specific financial reports, and supporting RCRV project staff in resolving financial system related project funding questions or confirmations.
