    Proposal and Award Generalist, Level 4

    The Strategic Interdisciplinary Research Office (SIRO) within the Senior Vice President for Research is seeking a Proposal and Award Generalist, Level 4, (PAG 4) for assisting the pre-award administration. The Strategic Interdisciplinary Research Office (SIRO) is a research administration unit under the Office of the Senior Vice President for Research (OSVPR) dedicated to providing active support for the development, submission, and management of large-team multidisciplinary proposals. SIRO supports pre-award and Federally funded Training Grants for multi-college and multi-institutional efforts, while the Finance Office (FO) within OSVPR provides post-award support for complex large-team funded awards. This PAG 4 position will report to the Associate Director, pre-award administration.


    The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

    • Lead the proposal submission process that includes assembling the full proposal, thorough review of the proposal for compliance with university and agency policies and regulations, and completion of the submission on sponsor recommended online portal
    • Partner with Proposal Development unit for preparation of documents; Advise faculty in all aspects of proposal development and submission requirements
    • Lead preparation of budgets, cost-share documents, and other non-technical documents as required in the funding opportunity; Review and summarize funding opportunities to guide the proposal development process and preparation of proposal templates
    • Determine project budget compliance with funding opportunity guidelines and engage with project management and post-award units as necessary
    • Engage with faculty, Associate Dean for Research, and Institute Director to develop the documentation required for cost-share agreements; Obtain departmental, college and university approvals as required for submission
    • Serve as a pre-award liaison with sponsors, Office of Sponsored Programs, Research Accounting, Risk Management Office, Office of Technology Management, and the Office of Research

    This position may be called upon to mentor and train junior staff, develop education and outreach programs, and contribute to the documentation related to SIRO policies and procedures.

    This position will be filled as level 4, and typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of government regulations and University policies applicable towards sponsored research is essential. The preferred candidate should have qualification to be approved as an Authorized Organizational Representative with full signature authority. Familiarity with Strategic Information Management System (SIMS), and completion of the ACOR Certification and Education Series (ACES) is preferred. Certified Research Administrator (CRA) or strong desire to obtain certification is desired. The candidate must have self-management skills, including the ability to prioritize and meet proposal submission deadlines in a fast-paced environment, the ability to interpret information, ideas, and instructions clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
