    The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for HRPP QA-QI Manager, Office of Research Integrity [R0128432]

    ROLE of the POSITION 

    The Human Research Protection Program - Quality Assessment/Quality Improvement (HRPP-QA/QI) Manager leads the functional oversight of the Human Research Protection Program and is responsible for quality assurance/quality improvement and educational activities for the Human Subjects Program (HSP). This position serves as a subject matter expert for the HSP and develops and implements the quality assurance/quality improvement effort. The HRPP-QA/QI Manager will possess in-depth knowledge and understanding of federal regulations pertaining to human research and experience applying regulations to Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions for all types of category determinations (exempt, expedited, convened IRB review, not research, not engaged in research) and for all levels of IRB review (pre-review, re-review, clarifying issues, post meeting, non-committee review) to ensure adherence to regulatory and ethical standards. The position also implements for-cause and not-for-cause audits, data collection, analysis, communication, and education programs. The incumbent will support the HSP and Office of Research Integrity leadership by setting goals, planning, organizing, and leading processes related to any research involving human subjects to ensure it is conducted in a manner that protects the safety, rights, and welfare of research subjects. The HRPP-QA/QI Manager will support compliance by developing and maintaining institutional standard operating procedures, including form maintenance and development, and following international, federal, state, and local rules and regulations and ethical principles regarding the use of human subjects in research. This position will assist with the training of IRB administrators and coordinators, and conduct internal needs assessments with the goal of program refinement. This position will also serve as the point of contact for the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP), lead site visits and handle other interactions with the association as well as assist with any internal or external audits of the HSP. 

     

    Knowledge 

    Knowledge of research terminology and methodology pertaining to social/behavioral/educational and biomedical research. Advanced knowledge of human subject protocol review and revisions procedure. Must have advanced knowledge of policies and procedures applicable to IRB review and revisions in order to develop, document and maintain SOPs that are consistent with federal, state, and institutional regulations and guidelines. Must possess advanced knowledge of federal and international compliance regulations and guidelines which govern human subject regulation including: Federal Policy 45 CFR 46, 21 CFR 50, 21 CFR 56, Belmont Report, Declaration of Helsinki, Nuremberg Code. Advanced ability to develop and support a QA/QI program for reviews of research processes as well as provide consultation and education for these activities is critically important. 

     

    Note: Flexible work arrangements for the weekly schedule may be considered. 

     

    QUALIFICATIONS 

    This position requires a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university and four years working with electronic IRB platform.  CIP certification is also required prior to hiring. Master's degree is preferred. Experience can be substituted for degree. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment. 

     

    SALARY RANGE 

    Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
