    JOB SUMMARY

    The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) Shared Services office seeks applicants for a full-time position as Assistant Director for CLAS Shared Services Grant Management. Under the direction of the Assistant Finance Director for Grant Management, the incumbent will provide support in all aspects of research administration.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Manages research administration activities, including grant account set-up, compliance reviews, reconciliation, expenditure reviews, financial reporting, and closeout.
    2. Oversees the work of assigned personnel, including assigning and reviewing work, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations.
    3. Serves as an expert resource to faculty, department support staff, direct reports, and others. Provides assistance with interpreting policies, award terms/conditions, regulations, and resolving complex issues related to grant and award proposals, submissions, guidelines, and other concerns.
    4. Serves as a member of the senior leadership team. Participates in establishing and updating office policies, procedures, processes, and initiatives.
    5. Provides mentorship, professional development and training for direct reports.
    6. Meets with Sponsored Programs Services (central office) Directors of Pre and Postaward Directors regularly regarding internal policies and procedures.
    7. Networks with peers from within UConn and other universities for research operations enhancement.
    8. Works with auditors to respond to questions and findings regarding grants and contracts. Gathers and provides supporting reports/documentation to facilitate the reviews.
    9. Monitors compliance with grant, award, and sponsor guidelines, agreements, and policies. 
    10. Keeps current with industry best practice, federal and state law, and sponsoring agencies' policies as they pertain to sponsored program activity.
    11. Participates in national and local meetings, seminars, and workshops in the area of research administration.
    12. Performs related work as required.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree in related field.
    • Six to seven years of related experience.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Knowledge of Federal regulations, sponsor guidelines, and the Federal Office of Management and Budget Uniform Guidance as it relates to sponsored program activities
    • Experience effectively supervising staff
    • Ability to communicate effectively through both oral and written means
    • Ability to work independently to analyze available information, draw conclusions and understandings, and present such conclusions effectively to senior management
    • Ability to engage, connect, and work with diverse student, administrative, and faculty populations and provide a commitment to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion in an educational setting.

    APPOINTMENT TERMS
