    Hello, all!

We are preparing to submit our first proposal in JUSTgrants (Department of Justice).  The registration process itself has been a bit challenging, and I haven't found any documentation for setting things up when you do not have a current or recent award.

I am working with the help desk and am waiting for them to check on things, but, in the meantime, does anyone have tips or advice they'd like to share?

    Thanks!

    Pam

    Hi Pam,
Here is a link to several training videos and reference guides on preparing applications:

Scroll down the page to see them (past the expired webinar info)

    All the best,

Thanks, Terri.  I have looked at training for the submission process, and will check to see if I have viewed everything on the link you've sent. I appreciate the response! And I am all ears if anyone has experiences they'd like to share with troubleshooting, etc.!

Right now,  my big challenge is with the actual registration process. I have not found anything that explains how register/get started in the system if you are not a current grantee.  Even the help desk first asked for current award information.  I know they pull info from SAM.gov, but I am pretty sure there must be something that needs to be done (beyond me setting up my own account) to get an institution in the system if you haven't had a recent award.

Thanks again, Terri!  I kind of miss my days of doing more eRA, LOL!  Then I'd be more prepared for this.

    Aah, I misunderstood.

You'll need to submit an application first. Here's some info from Step 9 of the link below:

Within 24 hours of JustGrants receiving an application from Grants.gov, the user submitting the application in Grants.gov and SAM E-Biz POC will receive an email to register for a JustGrants account. The email is from DOJ's secure user management system (DIAMD) and will include instructions on how to create an account.

To ensure that you receive these emails and that they are not flagged as spam, we recommend adding "DIAMD-NoReply@usdoj.gov" target="_blank" rel="noopener">DIAMD-NoReply@usdoj.gov" to the trusted sender list in your email settings.

The E-Biz POC at the applicant organization serves as the Entity Administrator and must log-in to JustGrants to confirm the entity's profile and add users. The user who submitted the application in Grants.gov serves as the Application Submitter. Within minutes of completing your JustGrants account registration, the Application Submitter and the E-Biz POC (Entity Administrator) users will receive an email from JustGrants with a link to the application started in Grants.gov.

Ugh!  Thanaks, Terri.  I didn't realize that you couldn't register for the system prior to submitting the grants.gov part.  While that makes sense, it concerns me, since that means we will only have two weeks to get registered and get everything uploaded and submitted.  I've read that people are currently having trouble with submissions and getting responses from the (probably overwhelmed) help desk.

Thanks again.  I really appreciate it!

    Regards,

    Hi Pam,

Melinda here from Oklahoma State University. I have had some experience in JustGrants. I feel like I have a little bit of handle on it now. If you need assistance please reach out. And, good luck! It is not an easy system to navigate.

    Thanks,

    Melinda

Thank you, Melinda!  I will contact you if we need assistance.  I appreciate the offer.

Terri's response cleared up the initial question... I apparently didn't get far enough into the refences to see that you had to submit the grants.gov document(s) in order to set up the account in JUSTgrants, so lots of things make much better sense now.  But I have seen some of the questions and issues people have had about JUSTgrants, so I am expecting some challenges!

    Thanks again!

    Pam

Yes, the reporting stuff can get pretty tricky! OSU has had several awards in there now and it took a minute to figure stuff out!

    Have a great weekend!
