  • 1.  What conferences are you attending in 2022?

    I was just updating the events calendar here in Connect with some of the conferences coming up in 2022, and it got me wondering what conferences people are planning to attend this year and if you're attending in person or virtually. I know virtual conferences aren't quite the same, but it is nice to have the option not to be apart from my family!

    The only conference I'm looking to attend is the Cayuse conference but that's not a certainty at this point.

    Right now our university has reinstated the "no in-person meeting" restriction until at least January 24th.   The hope is that the Omicron variant surge will have died down by then.   I am less optimistic.

    Hi Simon,

    I'll be co-chairing and attending the in-person SRA International Western-Midwest Section meeting at the end of April in sunny Phoenix, Arizona! I hope to see the Cayuse community there as well!

    I may also attend the Association of Biomolecular Resource Facilities (ABRF) Annual Meeting in Palm Springs, March 27-30.

    I plan to attend the SRA International annual meeting in Las Vegas in early November.

    Thanks for flagging the ABRF event, Stuart! That one wasn't on the calendar yet.

    I'll keep my fingers crossed these are all able to happen in person and you get to enjoy some sunny cities :)

    NORDP's annual meeting will be April 24-27. Slated to have been in Bellevue, WA, the conference committee and the Board of Directors have decided, out of an abundance of caution and in the face of numerous travel restrictions, to go virtual again this year.

    Thank you, Michael! I'd somehow neglected to include NORDP on the calendar and that definitely needs to be there. 

    I feel for anyone trying to plan an event right now. It's so tough to know what things will look like in even just a couple months.

    While traveling to the locations Stuart mentioned (Phoenix, Palm Springs, and Las Vegas) all sound very good on a day when it was -3 actual temperature and -22 wind chill, the only conference I am planning on is Cayuse Connect.

    Happy New Year, everyone!

    In addition to Cayuse Connect, I plan to attend the SRA International Northeast/Southern Section meeting in Philadelphia in April 2022, the Alabama-Mississippi Chapter meeting in Gulfport, MS and the SRA International Annual Meeting in Las Vegas in October 2022.

    I am very hopeful the pandemic restrictions will ease up and give us all a chance to meet in-person.
